The popular car show, which began at the Ridgecrest Petro- glyph Festival in 2014 is now a stand-alone event. Aside fromDetroit, there’s no place more identified with the automobile than California. With the state’s love affair with cars, well documented in countless television, film, and ubiqui- tous car commercials, it’s no wonder that the Ridgecrest Petro- glyph Festival’s annual car show is moving to a stand-alone event in March 2023. According to Kari Crutcher, Executive Director of the Ridge- crest Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, the 8th Annual Car Show has earned a rebranding as the California Desert Classic Car Show. “The car show always has been an essential part of the be- ginnings of the Ridgecrest Petroglyph Festival. But with the growth of both events, we believe that providing the car show its stand-alone event was the best way to ensure the longevity of this signature event and to attract more visitors to the area in the spring,” said Crutcher. In recent years, the car show has been headed by Manny Aranda and MarkWilliams, president and vice president of the Muscle Mustangs of Ridgecrest. According to Aranda, he and Williams were inspired to create their car club in 2015 after attending the car show that at the time was on Balsam Street. “There I was, admiring my Mustang and all the other cars at the car show, and the thought hit me, ‘Why not start a Mustang Car Club?’” Today the Muscle Mustangs of Ridgecrest has 122 members. We all enjoy the camaraderie at car meets and social events, “We are one big Mustang Family.” “Although the Muscle Mustangs of Ridgecrest head the event, we invite a wide range of makes and models,” says Williams. “Our cars are a representation of who we are. If you want to show your car off and join others with the same interests, please do so. We invite all kinds of makes and models are welcome. Categories include Imports, Street Rods, Exotics, Muscle Cars, Jeeps, Special Interests, Luxury, Supercars, Low Rider, Electric Vehicles, Under Contraction, and more. We wish to connect with you at our unique event.” The 2023 California Desert Classic Car Showwill be held on Saturday, March 11, at 10 a.m. at Leroy Jackson Park. The event will feature food and merchandise vendors, entertainment, a 50/50 raffle, and cameo appearances fromDarth Vader’s 501st Legion. “This is a chance for you to enjoy great spring weather, en- tertainment, and the greatest cars frommotoring history,” says Williams. “American & European cars ranging from the 1920s to the classics of the ‘50s and ‘60s, as well as modern exotics, will be exhibited at the car show. Perhaps more classics driving together than you have ever seen before. There will be a favorite classic for everybody!” Contact: 2023 California Desert Classic Car Show Manny Aranda, President, Muscle Mustangs of Ridgecrest 760-677-1924; mannyaranda@gmail.com Mark E.
